Deconstructing the Myth: “Rock Bottom” Isn’t a Requirement
Let’s be real: The whole “you have to hit rock bottom before you can get better” thing? It’s a dangerous lie. Rock bottom isn’t a single moment—it’s a moving target, and for some people, it’s six feet under.
Recovery doesn’t wait for a dramatic collapse. It starts the second you decide you want something different. You don’t have to lose everything to deserve help. You don’t have to destroy your life to earn a shot at healing.
Professionally and personally, I’ve seen too many people wait—hoping for some mythical “bottom” that never comes, or wishing for a wake-up call that nearly kills them. You’re allowed to change before it gets that bad. You’re allowed to want better for yourself, right now.
Let’s kill this myth and give people a chance before the damage is permanent.

Love this offering, Belle. 👏✨🙂
I agree with you that we don't 'need' to hit rock bottom before making a change.
And yet... how many people change in comfort? And how many people need suffering/ discomfort/ upset to change? We're a culture that feeds off distractions and illusions.
In my experience, unfortunately, I don't know many people that made drastic life changes when things weren't dire, and demanding for them to change. Certainly, this was my experience. I ran until I hit an emotional wall. That's when I realized I needed to change.
I'm curious, on your journey, when did you make a change in your life? Were you able to do so without reaching a point of severe discomfort?
You have mentioned such a fresh perspective. Its actually inspiring.
