This is incredibly powerful! It honestly brought up a lot of icky feelings from my own upbringing- at no fault to you. You did a wonderful job here. ❤️🥹

This is incredibly powerful and accurate. Generational trauma isn’t abstract theory; it’s lived reality. It’s the nervous system absorbing what the family never had the capacity, language, or safety to process. As a psychologist, I see this every day in evaluations and in my own record reviews: trauma doesn’t just repeat, it adapts. It hides in silence, perfectionism, anger, hyper-independence, apologizing too much, or never apologizing at all.

What you captured so well is the invisible transmission. Most people assume trauma is passed down through stories. But most trauma is passed down through what was never said, the flinch, the tone, the shutdown, the vigilance, the fear of being seen too closely. Kids learn the rules without anyone teaching them.

And truly breaking the cycle rarely starts with a dramatic transformation. It starts exactly how you wrote it: one honest moment, one apology, one boundary, one small crack where truth gets to breathe. Those “tiny rebellions” matter more than most people will ever understand.

Beautifully written, and so important.

This is powerful, raw, and necessary. You put words to the wounds so many families carry in silence. Thank you for calling it out and showing that healing starts with honesty—even when it hurts.

Thank you for your words. The goal is real connection! :)

This hit really close to the bone… the way you traced those quiet, inherited hurts felt painfully true. It’s strange how something we never asked for can echo through so many parts of us — but the way you wrote it made the truth feel a little less lonely, a little easier to sit with.

You humble me again! The core of the connection is what I strive for. Thank you so much!

This is such an important and powerful post. You put words to what so many of us lived through without ever understanding why it felt so heavy, so confusing, or so familiar. The way you show generational trauma in real, everyday moments, not just the dramatic stories, hit me hard. It’s the silence, the tension, the rules we never questioned, the fear we learned without anyone having to say a word.

What especially moved me was the reminder that breaking the cycle doesn’t happen in grand gestures. It starts with one shaky truth, one apology, one boundary, one moment of awareness. Those small shifts really are where healing begins.

Thank you for writing this with so much clarity and compassion. Posts like this help people feel seen… and sometimes that’s the very first crack in the cycle.
